It’s a wrap.
Today I’m starting part-time volunteer work assisting in an art program for kids at the library for the City of Pasadena. I figured that since my schedule has opened up a bit, I’d do something for the community with my extra time.
This past weekend, I saw two of my dearest friends get married in a outlandishly beautiful ceremony at The Parker in Palm Springs. Although I’ve lived the past several years flying solo, it’s events like this that give me hope that perhaps I too will be as happy as them too one day. But then again, who am I kidding? I’m going into Advertising. Below is the tribute vid of them too from ThemToo Photography. Enjoy!

So one night I decide to stop over at Highlands while I was in Hollywood taking pictures of billboards and other forms of advertising media. I came to see my friend DJ Kagan spin for the first time. I guess it was her “coming out” party as a DJ. No homo. What ended up happening was a night of sentimental debauchery. I haven’t gone back since.
WTF?! Some useless knowledge for ya…
Ahhhh…the wonders of Hydrogen Peroxide! I never knew! I’m no surgeon or chemist, but I’m amazed at how these people use hydrogen peroxide in their daily use. Some claim that I can save pennies on the dollar, which is not bad given that I’m officially a starving student. I do warn that anyone attempting this should educate themselves first, so before anyone dies of peroxide poisoning, check out these vids or find more on YouTube.
It’s a wrap.
I joined the Agency for the Fall 09 Trimester. The Agency combines talents from different majors (ad, photo, film, graphic design) and works on real life projects for real life clients. Led by Mikio Osaki, a veteran to the ad world and 15-year former chair of the Ad Dept at Art Center, the Agency meets once a week on the South Campus. So with that being said, I’d like to take this time to introduce a new commercial for the Pasadena Symphony and Pops. Concept and execution for the ad done at The Agency at Art Center College of Design and included print pamphlets and other ad materials. Big ups to my Agency peeps for all their hard work!

Here’s the embedded vid, but it doesn’t play, just follow the YouTube link.

So I just spent a shitload of doe subscribing to two more quarterly publications. I already have a subscription to Lüerzers Archive, but just now bought yearlies to Communication Arts and Creativity Magazine. The student rate took a while to find on Creativity, but as soon as filled out their mailing list info, I got a link to the mamajamma.
Here are the student links for you just in case you’d want a subscription as well:
Lüerzers Archive: $39/year or $130/2years You need to verify that you’re a student by scanning your student ID and providing your chair’s name and email. A good quarterly mag highlighting ads from across the globe. Great source of inspiration and networking. http://www.luerzersarchive.us/luerzers-subscriptions.asp
Communication Arts: $39/year This is by far the easiest to fill out. You need to provide the last name of your chair for verification. That’s it really. Then you get access to ComArts online and everything! Quite a steal for a quarterly! One of the most highly regarded creative rags out there encompassing POPs, campaigns, packaging, interviews, key art, and illustrations. https://www.commerce.commarts.com/secure/student/index.asp
Creativity Mag + Online: $49/year This by far almost depressed me! Because I couldn’t find the student link and the regular price for the print version and online access was nearly $100!!! All you need is a .edu account (from any school apparently) so that they can send a verification email. It’s a subsidiary of AdAge so there is a mix of BtoB and creative. Think of it like the love child if the Wall Street Journal, Eye, Lemon, AdAge and Wired had a sexual orgy. http://creativity-online.com/eduprogram/
It’s a wrap.
Week one in the bag and believe me it’s been no picnic. Although I only had 3 of my 5 classes this term. It already appears that I have a lot to do. It’s been difficult trying to catch up with all the chores I’ve been attempting to do. Time to get serious and kick some ass. If all goes well, then I’ll be smiling right now.
“Here’s to the crazy ones.
The misfits; the rebels; the troublemakers.
The round pegs in the square holes.
The ones who see things differently.
They’re not fond of rules,
And they have no respect for the status quo.
You can quote them. Disagree with them. Glorify or vilify them.
But the one thing you can’t do is ignore them
Because they changed things.
They pushed the human race forward.
And while some may see them as the crazy ones,
We see genius.
Because the people who are crazy enough
To think they can change the world
Are the ones who do.”
Thanks Scott. Now I can’t get this ad out of my head.
Passion Pit – “The Reeling”

It’s a wrap.
I’m still looking for my dream. Spending time around my friends this week really put things in perspective. Sometimes we want what others have, but the sin in it is that it’s not what WE want. So, I realize this and fall back to my center bead. School is the most important thing to me right now.
Register now for Fall classes at Art Center at Night. This is how I started going to Art Center, by taking Mikio’s class at night. Now I’m halfway through. It’s amazing how fast time flies.

Hi guys, just testing this feature on FB which imports blogs to a profile. Mine stop working days ago. Shit.
