On REPEAT:
“Tenderness” by General Public

I’m officially a politician.
I’ve been appointed to the Art Center Student Govenment (ACSG) to be the Student Representative of the Advertising Department for Spring 2010. This is very exciting news and I’m enthusiastic to serve! The ACSG will meet Mondays, 5pm – 7pm. Location TBD; more information/announcements to follow.
In the meantime, please feel free to contact me at: rdavid[at]inside.artcenter.com. Thank you!
I AM A MARATHONER! Ask me if I’m a Marathoner and I’ll respond, “Yes, I am!”
I’m a quarter of the way there; a quarter finished. Learned a shitload about the importance of stretching. In fact, I learned that it’s more important to stretch after a run, rather than before. I never knew that, so I’ve been keeping that in mind ever since. Ran 8 miles today, and did a 5 mile increase on the medium day. The 5 mile was such a bitch and I had the hardest time doing it. I blame the outfit though. I was wearing these thick sweatpants in case it got breezy, and guess what–it didn’t. However, the 8-miler didn’t seem as tough, probably due to the training with the 5 miler; plus, I had on better apparel this time. Took the Thursday run a day early because of Thanksgiving. On Tuesday, I found a new place to run–Occidental College. Come to find out, ACCD students are allowed at the training gym at Oxy, so I get to run on a rubber track on medium days. Which means less injury for me! From now on, I’m at Oxy on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Long runs are still at the Rose Bowl, as it is beautiful to look out at the scenery on Sunday mornings.
This next week I run my first 10-miler. Wish me luck!
When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest, if you must, but don’t you quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don’t give up though the pace seems slow–
You may succeed with another blow.
Often the goal is nearer than,
It seems to a faint and faltering man,
Often the struggler has given up,
When he might have captured the victor’s cup,
And he learned too late when the night slipped down,
How close he was to the golden crown.
Success is failure turned inside out–
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far,
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit–
It’s when things seem worst that you must not quit.

It’s a wrap.
Ate at this delightful deli at our hotel called “Delights”. Best Turkey sandwich I’ve had in Vegas! Spent the rest of the day researching and resting. Went for a workout at the gym here at the hotel. First time ever working out in Vegas. I’m surprised guests here don’t do it more. Oh that’s right, they’re young. haha I’ve just had enough with this city; Can’t spend more than 2 nights here or the place starts to feel a little suffocating–That’s why I love LA.
Thanks Vegas.
I’m posting this up just for funzies. Of course, I will be running the Pasadena Half-Marathon in February, but my buddy Duane has told me so much about this year’s LA Marathon course that I just had to check out myself. Pretty cool! Too bad I’ll be recovering from Pasadena. $125 Registration?! uh ya…maybe next year for sure.
For N-Y-C.
Wow! up to seven miles. That’s pretty incredible. Took the first part of the run with the Than brothers, Lenny, and other friends this morning. Finished the seven by myself. Felt great! Had some minor physical problems this week. Feet started to ache and the right knee was a little tight. Need to start icing my knees after a run and/or start taking some ibuprofen to cut down on the swelling. My throat is a bit sore with after the runs. I take it that’s because of the heavy breathing. Watched my diet a bit more, although the DBS Thanksgiving didn’t help much with all the food I ate. (I’m soooo stuffed!) Now I feel like running again. haha Need to start eating more fruits and veggies rather than all these meats with everything. Did some XT and core on Friday with my 3 mile run at the gym. Need to start doing more core everyday to work the abs. Angela said I was looking a bit thinner, losing some weight in the face; that’s a good sign. Looking to getting some new running shoes and socks; been saving since I started training. Close, but have about have about $100 to go. Other than that, week 4 and pretty excited to start!
Finals are in full swing and fuck, do I have my work cut out for me this term. I have an Agency presentation to take care of as well as the wall at Hillside to help arrange before super Thursday. Then, I have to work on AdCon3 and get that all shot before the finals are done. I’m pretty upset with that because I had the idea the first week and after all this time could’ve been shooting that SOB and getting it done. Now I gotta turn up the heat a little bit more than I wanted to to get that shit finished. I’m pretty overwhelmed and pretty frustrated. FML right now.

Another strange story to add to your Rolodex of useless information. Most times, the truth is funnier than fiction. Well, at least from what this youchoob told me. I haven’t checked the facts just yet. The infamous auto tune was invented in order to find oil. Then the gem was picked up by Cher and T-Pain and voila! The genesis of genius!
Saw this on http://youthoughtwewouldntnotice.com and had to repost.

I’m a sucker for all genres of music. Hip hop, Country, Slow Jams, Adult Contemporary, Movie Scores, Classical, Polka–you name it! But there is no replacement for hearing music performed live; simply better than any thing you’ll hear on headphones. Of course there are some bands that are really bad live, but that shouldn’t stop you from seeing them. The fun is just being there. Good or bad, here are just a few that give me goosebumps.
Ahhhhhhhh, Tamia. She still kills me.
They killed it. No really, they did.
Charice killed it. No really, she killed it. (You might have to follow the link though)
The Killers killed it. No really, they did.
Arctic Monkeys killed your dancing shoes. No really, D-E-D…Dead.
Silbermond killeinstein der Symphonie Orchester der LIVE vershenstein ack kaufman Germanie breckenstein güdden.
(Silbermond rocks!)
Ob course, the Pacman always kills it. ALWAYS.
On Friday I felt like giving this all up. How quickly that came! I thought I could get through this easy for the next 16 weeks or at least for the first six; I was wrong. I didn’t give up tho. I didn’t fail myself. I kept at it, and felt great after. It didn’t matter that what I was experiencing was actually a chemical reaction to the pain. If felt good. I’m beginning to wonder if working out and running and all the moments or accomplishments in life are just chemical reactions released from the brain. I wonder if anyone has the power to simply tap that reaction at any time?
Went on the 6 mile long run today at the Rose Bowl at about 10am. Didn’t stop. Kept moving. Felt terrific after! 6 miles is equivalent to a 10K, so I felt like I accomplished something significant in this long run. Resting for now. Went running without the headphones this week. I think I like it better.
THIS IS GOING TO BE A GREAT F#CKIN FIGHT!!!
